Breakthrough in Prayers: Daniel 10:12-14

Welcome to our 3rd Sunday service of the Year 2020. When we speak about God’s Glorious Breakthrough, it’s important we understand that a breakthrough is in a military concept. When one army is able to weaken its enemy’s forces to the point of collapse, a breakthrough occurs, allowing that army to invade and take its enemy’s territory.

This is as true for spiritual warfare as it is for terrestrial warfare. In the Spiritual realm, as opposed to the terrestrial, God’s people (the church) are an invading force. Jesus clearly intends for us to be aggressors not merely defenders. The Great Commission is to go and make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:19). In a world that lies in the power of the evil one (1 John 5:19) our mission is to liberate those taken captive by the devil to do his will (2 Timothy 2:26).

Daniel 10:12-14 gives us a brief glimpse of what’s happening in spiritual world. Daniel had been praying and fasting for 21 days to gain greater insights and revelations. In Daniel 10:3 an angel finally showed up with an answer to his prayers. This messenger said that he had been trying to get to Daniel for those 21 days, but had been detained by the prince of the Kingdom of Persia.” The chief angel Michael had to come, fight and free him.

There are two lessons from Daniel experience that we need to learn for us to experience God’s breakthrough in 2020.We as believers need to:

Persistently pray and fast until we have our breakthrough.

Be strategic to realize our breakthrough.

So as we pray and trust God for a breakthrough, we may experience more temptations, discouragements, frustrations, weariness, doubts and cynicism than before. DO NOT GIVE UP. Our God is all powerful and able to fight for you. Remember, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). He has overcome the World (John 16:33) and He will give the much needed breakthrough (Luke 18:8).

Many people will be dieting and working out to shed the extra  pounds they put on during the festive season.

This is usually an uphill task.

You should be concerned if you lose weight without making  any effort.

See your doctor if you progressively lose 5 or more kilograms without making  any effort.

  Blessings.

GROWING BEYOND OUR LIMITATION (EZEKIEL 37:1-7)

Happy New 2020. We are glad that the Lord has been gracious to us and allowed us to see this New Year. Last year you remember, as a Parish we went through God’s Unlimited Favour and indeed the Lord favoured us in a number of ways.

God used our very committed and supportive leadership team under the shepherding of our ordained elders in a great way. Through agreement and coordination our congregations grew both spiritually and numerically. We encourage members to take time and pray for this group of people as they provide leadership and labour among us in the parish.

As your minister, my heart gives thank to the Lord for His unlimited favour as expressed by David in Psalm 100. Last Year, 2019 the Year of God’s Unlimited Favour we were able to craft and start implementing our 5 year Parish Strategic Plan.

This Year, the Year 2020, the Lord is pointing us to His Glorious Breakthrough as was experienced by Isaac in Genesis 26:1-25.  There are 3 dynamics of God’s Glorious Breakthrough for us to understand and fathom in 2020. We have had depressing and stressing seasons. Therein lies the face of challenges (V. 1, 6-11). In the apprehensive situation God sends his Word, that stipulates and encourages a departure (V.2-5). When the Word is acted upon God’s Revival or Breakthrough is experienced (V.12-25).

My good people we have been located by God to fulfill His Kingdom’s agenda of redeeming mankind. We have been set apart by Him as a chosen people and a holy nation for His work on Earth. For the next 12 months, we want to declare God’s breakthrough in every situation of our church, of our families and of our nation. We want to declare God’s breakthrough in hearing His voice through His Word – we want to be a Word driven church. Lastly we want God’s breakthrough in revival upon you and each member of your family

I encourage you to perceive what the Lord is upto in this wonderful theme. It’s a new decade of great opportunities.

Anxiety over health, money or family problems is common but excessive worry can prevent a person from leading a normal life.

Speak to your doctor if you ;

¨ Worry intensely about everyday matters.

¨ Feel restless and have trouble relaxing.

¨ Have difficulty concentrating.

¨ Have trouble sleeping or falling asleep.

¨ Feel tired all the times.

¨ Are easily startled.

¨ Sweat a lot, feel light headed or are out of breath.

Do we have the presence of God with us? Or have we lost His presence? More than anything else in your life, ensure that you have His presence with you always and especially in Year 2020.

Psalm 51:11: Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. This is a powerful prayer. We need to have the presence of the Lord in our lives; it is a wonderful experience. It is essential in our everyday life.

For God’s Presence to become our portion in Year 2020, the following conditions need to be fulfilled:

1. Holiness (Seeking after God and His righteousness): Isaiah 59:1

– The sacrifice of Jesus for our redemption is a complete work and there is nothing we can add or remove from it. However we need to continue to pursue or press forward for righteousness diligently to stay in His Plan (Matthew 6:33, 1Timothy 6:11, 2 Timothy 2:22).

– Which means we are to stand upon the imputed righteousness and practice righteousness (1John 2:29, 1John 3:7). (1John 3:10) if you are not living in righteousness you are not His child and therefore cannot experience His presence

2. Praises: Psalm 22: 3, Psalm 100: 1-4, Malachi 2:1-3

– This is the trigger that turns on the manifest presence of God 2Chro 20:15-24

– Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25 attracted God’s presence through the exercise of praise.

3. Word of God (John 1:1, 1King 8:9 – 11) Word soaked environment 1Kings 8:9

God and His word are the same and cannot be separated. The more Word filled your heart is the more of His glory that you reflect.

– That is why we need to diligently seek Him and study and meditate on the Word of God.

– No matter the sacrifice you give and your prayers it will not make a difference if you live in rebellion and walk out of God’s will.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us (1John 5:14 KJV)

– Remember God and His will or His word will never change, in order to enjoy His backing for anything we have to align with His plan and purpose first. There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. Proverbs 19:21 (KJV)

You need a plan to have a quiet time with the Lord daily and regularly. This could also be the time when you will pray meaningfully, study and memorise the Word of God diligently.

You should also decree and announce the word of God throughout the day, to you and your interactions.

As you learn and practice these things on a DAILY basis, I promise you that you will begin to see God’s DAILY PRESENCE in your life and you will be able to walk in His DAILY POWER during the entire year.

The festive period provides us an ideal opportunity to talk to,  visit or engage with people around us. Some of us have a close family member or friend we think is lonely. A Christmas or new year resolution to see our friends and family more often can boost our own mental well being as well as that of others.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
